The digital television transition is the switch to exclusively digital television signals for all full-power television stations. The transition is set to occur on February 17th, 2009.

If your television in an analog television then it will no longer work for the viewing of TV stations after February 17th, 2009.

The DTV transition has been mandate by the government and is required. The transition has occured to give consumers more programming options, and better television picture/sound quality. It will also open up analog airwaves for emergency services.

If you have cable or satellite you can continue to use your analog TV. You will also still be able to use your analog television for movies and video games.

All televisions made before 1998 are analog and most televisions made after 2004 are digital.
