Continuing on from the easy to use music shop that is Swifts Jukebox, Japanese technology developers have been working on a new mobile phone with a very unique difference!
The idea being developed in Japan has been affectionately dubbed the “green phone”. Although not released yet, the software on the mobile phone keeps track of your water, gas and electricity use. It notes down if you have walked to work or taken the car. It even knows how high your heating is.
The advantage of all this information being taken down by your phone while at home is payment via the brownie points you score. When the phone is in it’s docking station, and your fuel usage information is available to it, every time you lower you emissions or turn down the heating you stack up credit, which you can spend on SMS, calls or internet surfing.
It is hopefully going to be a fun, contemporary and popular way to get people to do their part for the environment. The news stories and prototype models that have been released so far have certainly been received well by both eco friendly enthusiasts and the fun and funky gadget fans.
We are eagerly looking forward to stories that are likely to appear in the not too distant future regarding a phone that will react to the owners voice only, and not only perform “call home” etc commands, but also more elaborate instructions such as “Google search; car insurance” or “download single, Final Countdown”. There are plans for you to be able to tell it what to type using SMS too…
So, it’s no secret that mobile phones have not stopped evolving just yet. Who knows what is going to reveal itself over the next couple of years? With the must have combination of style, gadgets and user-friendly software, quality products keep raising the bar. We will just have to keep looking to the Sci-Fi movies for inspiration for new ideas!
