While you cannot really applaud Nokia for the N82’s design, you have to give them credit for the really cool features they have integrated into this phone. An image intensive addition to the Nokia N-series, it features 5 megapixels in its 2.4” LCD QVGA screen and with over 16.7 million colors in its display. Its monster xenon flash and front camera ideal for video-calling makes it one great Nokia phone.
A lot of people have berated the N82 for its bulky candy-bar design and weighing at 114 grams doesn’t really suit well with thin-phone crazy crowd. But despite the healthy look, it feels solid and indestructible in your hand. Unlike the earlier N-series versions of plastic coverings that seem to crack at the mere touch of the thumb, this Nokia phone holds it ground. It comes in silver and all-black colors, the first giving a sci-fi aura and one which people say comes straight out of a rocket wing. The all-black option is rare but it does give a very business-like feel to it. Once fault, however, is Nokia’s bright idea to make the alpha-numeric keypad fit only for a 7-year old child’s fingers. The small keypads make it difficult for typing the numbers, all the more for text messaging.

For all its design flaws, the N82 delivers on features and firmware. It supports EDGE and HSDPA 3G at 3.6mbps. It’s also WiFi capable, supporting STMP, IMAP4 and POP3 email. The N82 can be directly connected to TV via TV-out or wireless LAN. With its Bluetooth connectivity as well as USB 2.0 ports, it can be attached to your PC or laptop for one-click upload of your photos and videos. It also comes with the Nokia XpressPrint feature allowing you direct printing via USB. The N82 can also play MP3, AAC, eAAC, WMA and M4A file formats in its digital music player as well a handy FM radio. It just goes to show that looks isn’t everything.
