For a continually innovating gadget market, a mobile phone with a camera that has 5 mega pixels, face detection, image stabilizer and auto focus is not bad. It takes great outdoor pictures and portraits. But the indoor shots lead a bit more to be desired. If you don’t use the flash, which is a tragedy of shiny blots if you are taking pictures of people, then the picture would come out quite dark.
As far as capacity it is competitive at having 8GB available for your picture, music, video and game files.
The music player is said to be improved because of the Magic Touch, a touch pad that is a highly advertised feature of the new Samsung Soul. It can navigate well enough when you are in the mood to get your groove on or to mellow down with your tunes. Unfortunately, there is no separate video player so you have to find the video in your file directory and then play it. However, files with high bit rate are not going to sit well in this mobile phone.
Keeping connected using the internet is an option that Samsung would never forget to put in their phones. Although it leaves a few techies to think it needs more than what it offers, the speed it great for a mobile of this caliber. Just try not to compress the screen too much otherwise you won’t be able to read what is on the site you are browsing. I would have preferred if, like in the videos, you could also use the landscape option. Sadly, it can only browse with a portrait orientation.
But for gamers, the fact that it supports JAVA MIDP 2.0 is a relief. This way, most mobile games are easy to download and to play on the Soul. You would have to upload eventually since some of the built-in games are just trials.
If you are the type that takes your office work everywhere you go then you would be happy to know that it would open Microsoft Excel and Word files without modifying it if it was saved under the 2003 version. It still doesn’t support the 2007 version as of press time. You can read the files by navigating using a minimap that would show you which part of the file you are looking at that moment.
For someone like me who needs several alarms before I would actually get up, having five at a given period helps me not to oversleep. The organization feature of the Samsung Soul is quite decent. But it needs to allow for more memory when it comes to what can be saved in the calendar. You can view your schedule as a month, a week or a day whichever is more convenient for you.
These days what is in your mobile does reflect what is in your life. So it is just fit that you would have a Samsung Soul.
When you are considering taking out a new mobile phone contract, make sure that you shop around. Good mobile phone deals can be difficult to find, so make sure you compare all the major retailers, especially if you are after the Samsung Soul.
