Belgrave Square is a historically significant area in London and the park itself was established in 1820. In recognition of its status as a historic square it has been listed along with the Wilton Crescent, Eaton Square and Chester Square, as the gardens of the Grosvenor Estate. The original layout of the garden was done by Thomas Cubitt for the Second Earl of Grosvenor and had an outer line consisting of shrubbery that gave shade to an inner path. The inner section was made up of another line of shrub planting and a central lawn. Pavilions were also put up corresponding to the four directions.
The immaculate inner lawn remained untouched until the 1950’s when a decision was taken to construct a tennis court. In the late 1980’s a children’s park was built adjacent to the grass tennis courts. Unfortunately the Belgrave Square Gardens remain restricted to the public, only residents in Belgrave square and those who work in the vicinity are granted access to the park. Therefore for tourists it may be off limits however, the Belgrave Square Gardens remain an area of historical importance as well as aesthetic beauty.
The many attractions of London are no doubt tempting for tourists and many beautiful parks and places of historic significance are to be found in abundance in this busy city. A London hotel also offers travelers the best accommodation options and a wide variety of hotels to choose from.
