This is actually pretty common and what has most likely happened is that you have hit a weight loss plateau. A weight loss plateau occurs when your body has become used to your routines and has realized that its fat stores are disappearing so your body adapts to your routine and resists your efforts to burn off any further fat. You can get break through this plateau and burn off those last few pounds by incorporating 'shocks' into your cardio routine.
Shocks are random surges that you can incorporate into your cardio routine. For example, say your cardio routine consists of 50 minutes on the stair master at an intensity level of 9. Every 10 minutes, increase the intensity level up to 13 or 14. Not too high that you can't move, but it should certainly be very challenging for you. Go at this intensity level for roughly 2-3 minutes or so giving 200% effort and then bring back down to your normal level. Repeat this effort every 10 minutes or slowly build up a routine where you can incorporate it.
By introducing random high intensity 'shocks' into your cardio routine, you are forcing your body to use up excess fat stores to fuel this increased intensity. Under no circumstances should you incorporate this into each of your cardio routines. The whole point here is to make these cardio 'shocks' completely random otherwise they will become routine and your body could build up a resistance to it. For example, if you do cardio 5 days a week, incorporate these cardio shocks on Mondays and Fridays or Tuesdays and Thursdays, etc but no more than 2 days a week.
By adding these random ‘shock’ techniques into your cardio routine, you should start seeing improved results and make significant progress breaking through your weight loss plateau.
