Everything you need to know about Yung Joc

Everything You Need To Know When It Comes To Yung Joc:

A Little background:

First of all, Yung Joc, shockingly, is not Jasiel Robinson's real name. Jasiel was born in 1983 and hails from Atlanta, Georgia. More specifically, Yung Joc is from College Park, which you can hear referenced numerous times throughout his songs. Growing up Joc wasn't the perfect child. He states that he had a "smart mouth" growing up and he went through some problems growing up. Yung Joc was a fighter, and skipped around from school to school before he graduated.

"Joc was 10 years old when artists such as Run DMC, Dana Dane, Ice-T, Slick Rick, and LL Cool J sparked his interests in rap music. "Once I got a little older, my hip-hop inspirations came from Outkast, Goodie Mob, Tupac, and the Notorious B.I.G.," he explains. "By then, I realized that I could do some of the same things these cats were doing and use my situations to catapult me into other opportunities" (yahoo.com).

The 23-year-old rapper signed with Block Entertainment after years of hard work and hustle. After impressing Block at a show one night, Joc was immediately signed to a deal. The days of hustling and working hard weren't over though; Yung Joc admits today that he simply works harder and harder every day. This type of dedication should take him a long way as long as bad luck doesn't get in his way.

Its Goin Down:

This is the song that did it all. Yung Joc's first single off his soon to be released album "New Joc City," "Its Goin Down," has garnered him more attention than any hit single in a long time. Before his album has even released, Joc has topped numerous countdowns. BET has had Joc on the top for some time now, and the Billboard Hot Top 100 for Hip Hop and R&B has recently put "Its Goin Down" at the top of their chart.

Looking Deeper into Its Goin Down:

Lets start off with the very first thing you hear when you pop on "Its Goin Down," "This a nitty beat (boing)." That lyric right there is telling all the fans that the beat to this song was produced by Nitty. Nitty helped Yung Joc with the song, and the referenced to Nitty's work is made a few times throughout the song. Moving along to Joc's first words you hear, "Niggaz in my face, Damn near er' day, Askin a million questions like Joc where ya stay, Tell 'em collegepark, Where they chop cars." Right there is a shout out to College Park Georgia, where Joc resides. Now onto the famous chorus: "Meet me in the trap its goin down, Meet me in the mall its goin down, Meet me in the club its goin down, Any where ya meet me guaranteed to go down." That right there is what made Yung Joc explode single handedly. That chorus is being repeated 1000's of times each and every day. People are changing their vocabulary just to spit that line. I see people posting those lyrics on their friend's myspace for no reason other than the fact that the chorus is hot. In the business everyone says you need a hook to be successful, and the hook to "Its Goin Down" is absolutely perfect.

Joc-In

You know that dance that Yung Joc and his boys are doing during the "Its Goin Down" video? Well Joc has labled that dance "Joc-in" and it is spreading like wild fire. The first major instance of the spread is when Tom Cruise did the Joc-in dance. You know you have gone mainstream when Tom Cruise is copying you. There is an animation located at Yung Joc TV that has been spread all over myspace. In general this type of marketing strategy is what puts Yung Joc at the top of the game. Whenever a new rapper is coming out they need something that can be associated with them. Not only does Yung Joc have Joc-in, but he also has P. Diddy behind him.

Joc's future

In reality there are tons of rappers who come out with a hit single and then fall on their face. In regards to Yung Joc, I simply do not see a drastic downfall coming any time soon. For one, he has a business mind to go with his musical talent. Often the most successful rappers are businessmen who know how to get their name out there. Couple that with the fact that Yung Joc has P. Diddy behind him, and he would really need something horrific to happen for Yung Joc to be a one-and-done artist. Yung Joc could use another nice single or two to establish his dominance in the rap game, and then from there I see him flourishing for the rest of his career. I am already anxiously awaiting his next album, even though his first album has yet to drop!
