5 Key Components to Internet Business Success

In any business, if you do not plan correctly you are setting yourself up for failure. The planning stage is critical towards your success! Let's look at 5 important areas you need to consider beforehand to insure your internet business success.

1) Market Determination - Determine what field you want to work in. Do a little brainstorming. Research will be required here (sorry, no guessing allowed) to determine if your market selection is to be a profitable one. After you've selected some product types you're interested in marketing, let's use garden supplies as an example, do a bit of keyword research to determine the demand for these types of products. Does your research indicate a high volume of interest (searches) in this area? If so, great! Now let's dig a little deeper and visit some of the sites that sell products similar to what we've researched to determine what the market is willing to pay. Is it profitable? If so then lets move on to the next step.

2) Product Determination - Here's where we determine what product we want to market. Based upon our research, we've determined what's hot and what's not. Now at this point you may want to sell products that have already been shown to be in demand as an affiliate or you may want to create your own product that fills a need within this market. Although marketing as an affiliate has its merits and is a proven way to generate an online income, creating your own product will bring more profit to you.

3) Traffic Generation - Without customers we have no business. Just how do we drive traffic our website?
To be brief there are several ways to 'drive' traffic to your website. Some are free while others require money. Article marketing, press releases, forum, and blogs are some of the cost free methods while PPC, and adsense are pay as you go approaches. Any one of these methods can be learned with patience and application. The method(s) that you choose are entirely up to you based upon your particular interests and comfort level. It is recommended to focus on just one or two of these techniques to more quickly develop your expertise in that area.

4) Additional Sales - This area of building your business involves making available to existing customers other products or services that may be related and/or add value to their original purchase. For example if your primary product was some type of gardening tool, then you can follow-up with those customers by offering them flower seeds or a gardening hat. Get the idea? You're establishing a customer base and you already know what their interests are from their previous purchase. Capitalize on your already established relationship with previous buyers to grow your online income.

5) If it ain't broke don't fix it - Okay we're now at the last step. If all went well with the previous steps, and it should have since these steps are pretty deliberate as far as what they're meant to accomplish and that is to ensure success in a 'calculated' manner, this step will be easy. Repeat the previous fours steps to repeat your success. This can be done with any market, product, online or off.

As simple as this approach may seem it is absolutely vital to NOT skip a step in the planning process. If you fail to plan you plan to fail! The success of your business will be found in the planning stages. Short cutting this process will likely lead to failure.
