About Shalini Nambiar

When one goes to meet a member of the world's noblest profession, teaching, one is prepared for a lot of 'big' talk-about how great the profession is, how the teacher is the guru, how they have the power to transform us through their knowledge bank and so on.

As an exception, meet Shalini Nambiar, Director, Excelsior American School who puts forth entirely different perspective. For one she says the word teacher is totally inappropriate 'No one can say that I know everything and I will teach the students. I think today teaching is more about facilitating both the process of learning and learning together with the students.

Budding economist, mountaineer, flying career perhaps that explains the different approach to teaching. Here's then a teacher who once walked into the class and told her students to submit an assignment '50 excuses to give to your teacher' and one who is considered a new age facilitator.

She is a person who thrives on challenges, who takes inspiration from life and plunges ahead wholeheartedly wanting to reach that self made pinnacle that she has set for herself. She is one of those rare persons who takes life as a challenge and meets it with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. An impeccable person, full of charm with eyes gleaming where the warmth and love for children is evidently seen. She has reached the pinnacle of success in a very short time and being an educationist to the core she says, 'If I am able to make a difference to the life of a child, that would be my biggest achievement and would give me immense satisfaction at the end of the day'. Shalini totally devotes herself to her profession which is also her passion.

An LSR Eco graduate with a soul of a wanderer who wanted to see the whole world as traveling was her passion. Her nine years long stint with the airlines industry made her dreams of traveling come true. In the meantime, marriage happened and after the kids were born she had to bid adieu to flying. There was always a burning desire to do something which resulted in joining G D Goenka , Vasant Kunj as a part time teacher of western music. There was no looking back since then. She joined Heritage School and started climbing the ladder of success. She became the Head Mistress of the school and escalated it to the heights of success. Now she is working as a Director of Excelsior Amerivan School 'Life is always a new challenge. As an educationist it has been my dream to be part of an education system that is different and wholesome '

An achiever who sets herself high standards she yearns for more . In spite of lots of laurels and achievements resting on her shoulder she still sets higher standards of achievements for herself.

Since she loves to write as she feel it gives her a chance to be able to unload herself at the end of the busy day.she created a Blog and named it Razz-ma-tazz... a blog for small things in life which matter... as she feels there is a hidden self in each one of us looking for ways to come out and be free. 'We live a chained life... chained by family... society... always trying to be what others expect of us so this blog is a medium to give vent to your feelings, emotions, like, dislikes on anything... that not only inspires, excites, educates, instills positivity... but also to philosophize and question life itself... to help people free themselves from their own limiting attitudes, beliefs, thoughts and actions and which in turn will inspire them in developing lasting, unshakeable inner confidence'...

'I don't want to pretend but write truth only... I write what I feel from the heart as in my writings most of the time my heart rules my head... It's intellectually motivating for me as I like to tread on the path which most people don't dare'... she says.

Her future plans is to help educating as many people as she can and dreams of opening her own school.
