A recent powerful earthquake in China took away the life of more than 70,000 people. It was recorded to be of 8.0 intensity on Richter scale. The CEO and new president of American Red Cross society, Gail McGovern, visited the earthquake affected areas, after supplying the required aid to the country.

It was just to tell the people of china the importance of their nation to Americans and to build the bridge between two nations.

Flashback: The President along with the vice president and several leaders of various humanitarian organizations went to China on invitation of USAID (United States Government Agency for International Development).

They talked to teachers and student who escaped the collapse of their schools during the earthquake. One young girl narrated the heart breaking sight in which she lost her friends and her own brother.

More: The American Red Cross has sent two experts for the relief of the victims and made the commitment of $20 million as an aid to the earthquake survivors. After few days, another team of members was sent to work with the Red Cross Society in China for the support of quick longer term recovery.

Though lot of recovery has been done, but still there is a great need. McGovern, who has recently occupied her new position, she says that she has reaffirmed her commitment by meeting the earthquake survivors. More than 60 corporations and 80,000 individuals have contributed to help the victims of china earthquake. Though the people of china have lost their homes, but they are not hopeless.

America held the round table conference for holding the discussion about relief to China. The participants recognized that the recovery was a long process but the support the China is gaining from all around the world will prove useful.
