Pankaj and Nidhi Ahuja's Corner

D7, the unique walk-in-walk concept by Delhi's leading designers was launched in Mumbai yesterday. The store is essentially one large space divided into 7 rooms, each with its own theme, decor & individuality specific to the brand occupying it. It's very interesting to see 7 stores under one roof weaving a common external facade with one wall dedicated to 7 show windows representing the works of each designer present at the store

We began with none other than Manish Arora with his showcase of a lot of vibrant colors in his collection inspired by the modern hippie which also comprised his shoe collection in collaboration with Reebok and his labels Manish Aora & 'Fish Fry'.
This was also the first time that he displayed his line of sunglasses.

We moved onto Rajesh Pratap Singh with his store representing a Laboratory.
The costume designer for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's play Padmavati presented his Spring Summer'08 collection to Mumbai.

Neeru Kumar introduced for the first time ever an exclusive range of surface ornamentation rich sarees. Her designs enhance the techniques kantha, shibori, cutwork, applique, etc.The color palette varied from earthy browns, rusty reds, dull bronze, shades of black with hues of wine, all the stages of white to off white or grey.

We moved in to Rabbani & Rakha, known for their exquisite & intricate work in creating distinctive & memorable clothes, based on their quality workmanship & creative design. Evening gowns form a big part of the collection along with kurta sets & sarees; short dresses also dot the collection along with flowing skirts & corsets. The colors used are turquoise blue & green, ivory & black, beige gold & skin.

Moon River debuted with remarkable & diverse range of products imported from Japan titled Hello Tokyo! which features creations by top Japanese designers from greeting cards to tableware to sushi plates to wooden table trays & vases.

Namrata Joshipura showcased designs for a sophisticated woman who is a global citizen whether in Mumbai, London or New York. Her clothes define strong use of colors & innovative embroideries that ranges from contemporary silhouettes to India aesthetics.

Pankaj and Nidhi Ahuja are known for their superbly cut & intelligently embellished line. The design in the store was inspired by verandas of colonial homes & the use of chevron patterned tiles brought specially from Bikaner, Rajasthan & the deep yellow on the walls make for a warm & inviting store.
