Good Dog, Bad Dog, My Dog: A Great Way to Easy Dog Training

Most experienced dog trainers would tell any dog owner right from the jump, it is important to start training a dog between six and eight weeks of age. But what if your dog is older and has yet to be trained? Do not panic, and do not worry because it is "never too late to teach an old dog new tricks."

If you are like most dog owners, then you too are curious about the best ways to go about easy and effective dog training. Also, you drill the question of "where do I get the time?" in your head repeatedly. There are several dog training tips that dog owners should be aware of. A very important dog training tip is that the owner must always use positive reinforcement.

Remember, when training your dog it is always best to reward him with dog treats and compliments. He should be awarded a treat each time he performs a command correctly. This will reinforce positive behavior.

Also, when training your dog be sure to remember to give firm but friendly commands. Give commands such as come and heel in a light voice. For commands such as down, stay and sit you will want to use a lower stronger voice.

For those oh so dreaded times when mans best friend looses the toilet, and has an accident in the house, contrary to popular beliefs try not to rub your dog’s nose into the accident. Also, when your dog has an accident try not to tap his or her nose with a newspaper. I know that this will be near impossible to do considering your on knees cleaning it up, but this is a very important tip.

When training a dog it is important to punish him. Punishing a dog during training will not cause him to be afraid of you, but to realize when what he has done is wrong. Try putting him in an area where he will be alone, and wouldn't enjoy his time there, such as a cleaning room or garage. Sort of like a doggy "time out". One of the most valuable tips to follow when training a dog is to use consistent training techniques.

The most important tip that I can give to anyone dog training is to have plenty of patience. Never loose sight that this is a big step for your dog, and that you are not the only one feeling frustrated at times.

Dogs are more than man's best friend. They are also beloved members of any family. Training can be tough, but very rewarding when the out comes is a happier and closer relationship between both pet, and owner. For easier and more effective tips, try different dog training sites for a more professional perspective.
