The aptly named city of Marbella, translating to "Beautiful Sea", is situated at the heart of the Costa del Sol, roughly 25 miles southwest of Malaga. Oozing sophistication and luxury, the cosmopolitan city nestled into the foothills of the dramatic Sierra Blanca Mountains is a popular destination for the wealthy, couples or those simply wishing to experience the Costa del Sol at its best.

With just under 15 miles of outstanding coastal beaches and 300 days of sunshine you don't have to think very hard to why many choose to flock to Marbella every year. There are 24 designated beaches all in all, ranging from the lively San Pedro de Alcantara where you can indulge in a variety of action-packed water sports to the tranquil waters that brush the shores of El Ancon.


Although the city's rich's are evident around every corner of the city, the La Mila de Oro, or "Golden Mile" truly showcases Marbella's love for stylish luxuries. With its exotic cars, yachts, swanky hotels and elegant mansions - a stroll down the manicured Golden Mile is sure to leave you with an unparalleled sense of awe and envy.

Thankfully you don't have to be filthy rich to enjoy much of what the city has to offer as it is also rich in culture and historical treasures. A visit to Casco Antiguo, Marbella's "Old District", is like stepping back in time; with its glorious plazas, white-washed houses and a wealth of notable architectural delights.

If you are still thirsty for culture then the city is well adorned with museums and galleries, notably the Museo del Grabado Español; which houses works by Picasso, Miro, and Dali to name but a few.


Marbella's luxurious accommodation, privileged facilities and reliable climate would likely amount to nothing if it weren't for its warm-hearted and welcoming people, that really make a holiday to the city a memorable one.
