I have a 2-year-old German Shepard-KJ. A number of months ago one of my neighbor’s dog wondered into my yard, a BIG dog. My wife was out with K.J., and before you know it the dog pounced on K.J... SCARY. I heard my wife screaming and ran out to find her with broom in hand to get the dog away from K.J.
Still don' t know how K.J. managed to get loose, but he did. The big dog was intent on going after him until I was able to get out there, and he finally left.... my point... K.J. sustained some not so nice injuries...but we were able to heal him up within a couple of weeks with an awesome natural protocol...
Before I get to that however, my next-door neighbor's daughter in law happened to be visiting next door and happened to see the entire attack, she is a Vet. She offered to come over and examine K.J.
She noticed a few small bite marks, and another bigger bite mark underneath his left leg and there was considerable swelling. She recommended that we watch it closely and to take him in if the swelling did not go down.
Well, at first the swelling seemed to be going down, but not much. The problem...none of us realized that he had a very very deep bite underneath his left front leg...in his chest area. After a couple of days he kept licking the area until we noticed bleeding; upon closer inspection we noticed the wound was so deep that you could see down inside the muscle. The wound had been hidden under his hair; the swelling had also made it difficult to see the full substance of the wound, even by the Vet.
The wound needed stitches, and infection had started to set in. Here is what I did...
I immediately begin giving him an Echinacea, Golden Seal Vitamin C Tincture. This Tincture was a strawberry flavored Glycerite. Thus not quite as strong as a pure alcoholic extract or tincture so I gave him more, usually 2-3 full droppers 2-3 times daily. It was very easy to get him to take it because of the taste.
For the gaping wound in his chest area I made what I call "HERBAL STITCHES”. This is a formula that I have suggested and used with great success with humans.
I simply take the herb, comfrey, in powder form (preferably organic) mix it with a high quality honey, and then add wheat germ oil. I usually use regular store bought (high Quality) honey... that is fine, but in my herbal practice I also use ACTIVE MANUKA Honey (UMF 20+) honey. You can Google it if you would like to read more about it.
I used the Manuka honey in this case. Once the ingredients are mixed they take on very gooey type consistency...almost like play dough but more firm.
We cleaned the wound with peroxide, and then I made another quick solution to help purify the wound further. I combined 3 parts of activated charcoal; with 2 parts goldenseal in distilled water and also put this into the wound.
Finally we packed the "HERBAL STITCHES" into the wound and dressed it.
What happened? The same thing that I've seen happen with it before, the comfrey actually caused new flesh to grow! New flesh began to fill the wound from the inside out! The reason for the honey is to eradicate infection and also facilitate the healing. The wheat germ oil is high in vitamin e and is added to reduce scarring (mainly when used for humans).
Within days the wound that had been gaping was nearly completely healed...without drugs, or stitches.
Another benefit gained from "HERBAL STITCHES" is that within 24 hours, about 95-98% of the soreness and pain that usually accompanies a wound is gone!
Imagine...a simple herb that can grow flesh! Our Creator has placed some amazing remedies here for us, and they are, for the most part, within the reach of all.
