Artificial tropical rainforest plants are highly adaptable to any area of the home or business. They are a good way to bring the tropics indoors, especially in temperate environments. Artificial tropical rainforest plants typically have some natural element, usually the stems. With the advances in technology, their color is even more long lasting since their leaves are now UV coated. The most popular examples of artificial tropical rainforest plants are Bougainvillea, Cattleya Orchids and, of course, Bamboo.

Bougainvillea can take the shape of vines, trees, or shrubs and have naturally sharp thorns. Trees can easily reach over thirty feet. The beauty of Bougainvillea lies in both the leaves, which are dark green and heart-shaped, and the flowers. These artificial tropical rainforest plants come in a variety of colors, including pink, white, yellow, orange and red. The artificial flowers are very realistic and capture the papery feel of the live specimen.

The artificial tree is normally made with premium silk screened polyester foliage, artificial flowers and natural trunks. Shrubs are available in baskets for under $30. The larger trees can range from 5 feet to 7 feet and carry a price tag of $135 to $200. The advantage of using the artificial tropical rainforest plant in this case lies not only in the lack of maintenance but also in the fact that live trees have a tendency to shed their thorns.
Orchids are tremendously popular and the Cattleya orchids are one of the most sought after variety. The natural plant typically takes anywhere between 5 to 7 years to produce its first bloom. For this reason, the artificial tropical rainforest plant is favored. The best selling variety is the 14" mini Cattleya, which comes in a wide range of colors but is most striking in purple or gold. It is also available in yellow, orange and white.

While orchids are exquisite flowers, natural orchids typically require constant care to ensure successful blooming. Many factors need to be taken into account when growing orchids. Use of the artificial tropical rainforest plant eliminates the need for this hard work. It also reduces the occurrence of allergies as they contain no irritating seeds or pollen.
Bamboo can be used to enhance both indoor and outdoor spaces. Giant artificial plants are available for use outdoors and can reach heights of over 16 feet. They do tend to be a bit pricey, retailing at over $1400. Smaller versions are available for indoor use. These normally range from 3 feet to 8 feet in height and can be obtained for under $125. It is also possible to buy artificial hanging bamboo bushes.

One of the annoying disadvantages of natural bamboo is its tendency to shed its leaves. This many be acceptable in an outdoor environment, but can create quite a mess when used indoors. Artificial tropical rainforest plants are not subject to wilting or shedding. There is, therefore, a minimum of cleaning required and the color is retained for long.
