It's great when we love our job. However, the passion we feel for our work can dissipate if we face far too much pressure and stress at the workplace. Unreasonable bosses, mean colleagues and tight deadlines without enough support can add to the feeling of dread when you head to work. You should know what to do to help you cope with all these issues.

Try implementing some exercises shown to relieve stress as you try to deal with the underlying issue. If you feel tight in your neck muscles, sense that you are taking shallow breaths and are falling sick often, these are signs that you could be under stress. There are things you can do though to help combat the symptoms.

Slowly take a couple of deep breaths. You do not have to meditate, all you need to do is to breathe deeply to help release stress. Shift your head from side to side and extend both your arms and shoulders.

While breathing deeply, you should also try to shift your focus from the issue that is stressing you. Stress can make it difficult to concentrate and to remember information, so it helps to move your thoughts away from whatever is causing the irritation.

If possible, close your eyes while breathing deeply. Let go of the problem by focusing on something that brings you happiness - your family, a joke that makes you smile or a favourite song. It doesn't matter what you use to shift your focus, as long as you can move your thoughts from the issue that is troubling you.

If you have started to work on the signs of stress, it is time to tackle the problem at hand.

Some people decide to start their own business. This of course presents many new challenges, but people find that they are happy to meet these challenges when they have the authority to deal with each situation as they see fit. A new venture translates into long working hours and not much to show for it at the start, but the idea of being their own boss is a good enough incentive for many.

The idea of running their own business doesn't appeal to everyone though. There are those that will try to make a difference in their current job. Not only do they feel that they're helping themselves, but their co-workers can also benefit from this. This method is also beneficial as it allows others to feel they are not helpless in a bad situation.

You can also think about asking for a transfer to another section or take comfort that you could have a more reasonable superior in the future. In many companies, it is common for things to change almost all the time, so if you are willing to bide your time, you can wait it out.

If you decide to remain in your current workplace, concentrate on things that are within your circle of control and do not get too worked up about things you cannot control. You can try to get help from helpful colleagues and pay no attention to the colleagues who try to aggravate the problem.

If you need to, rant to a friend or family member, but while at work, stay focused on what you can do, and let everything else go.
