If you have a MySpace account and are still using the default profile template that was in place when you first signed up, you are missing out on an awful lot of fun. You have probably seen many, many different MySpace profiles on your journeys around the web site. Profiles of all colors, and with every type of widget, image, background, and survey imaginable. The sheer variety makes the default profile look quite generic!
Are you still using the generic MySpace profile template because you aren’t sure how to go about changing it? Would you love to have a profile like some of the more interesting ones that you have admired?
Or, are you sticking with the generic version because you aren’t too fond of glitzy, busy, seemingly complicated profile pages? Do some of the ones you see affect you like fingernails on a blackboard?
There are MySpace layouts available to please either one of the above preferences. You can have a profile page that will rival the most intensely colorful and graphic-laden one in all of MySpace. Be aware, though, that the more extras you add to your page, the longer it will take to load when your friends and those who would like to be friends come to see your profile.
It’s understandable that you might be a little nervous about changing your MySpace profile to something else, especially if you don’t have much experience with HTML code. It will all look pretty strange when you see it on your screen. It’s hard to imagine that those lines of code can actually become a nice-looking template for a layout. You don’t have to come up with any code yourself, however. Just search the web for the new layout you want. Generally, the code to create it is right there with the photo of the layout.
For those who like things on the simple side, you can find many free MySpace layouts to tune up your profile and get it to look almost exactly the way you have envisioned it. There are layouts that can make your profile look like the page of an elite business, with muted colors and very few graphics. This type of template can work well when you think there may be times when you don’t want anyone to know you are checking your MySpace. If you are in a situation like this, be it at home or at school, anyone glancing at the screen will think you are at some ritzy website for a stockbroker! No music starts to play when you load the page, no flash graphics – just a nice page in tones of gray and deep green, or whatever “distinguished” colors you prefer.
And, if you are included in that seemingly vast majority that thinks the more you have on your MySpace profile page, the better, you’ll be thrilled to know that much awaits you! There are way too many beautiful layouts on the web to talk about here, but the best ones seem to be the ones that catch your eye, and have some sort of meaning to you. Don’t get too attached to just one layout! Over time, you’ll want to try several!
