Situated in south west London, the Chessington World of Adventures is sort of a theme park and zoo. It is around twelve miles from the central London and nearby to the A3 and the M25 ( junction 9 or 10).

There are many tourist hot spots within the park, and these include the Dragons’ Fury Roller Coaster ride, the Bubbleworks (meant mostly for families), and other attractions like the wildlife. These can be visualized riding the elevated monorail on the circumference of the park, the Safari Skyway. The theme park can be distinguished into at least 10 diverse areas, with respective areas having their own individual themes.

The zoo, oldest part of the park, is divided in two sections. On the western aspect is the Trails to the Kings, that is an attraction where the tourists can walk through the area viewing the different enclosures for wildlife, like the gorillas, tigers, lions, and leopards. On the eastern aspect are several small encages for capybaras and otters along with a monkey and bird garden. There is yet another walk through here that displays encage for squirrel monkeys, rhea, wallabies, and meerkats. The newer children's zoo is located near and outside the monkey garden, where one can see goats, pigs, sheep, and chicken.

The Sealion enclosure is shown a few times a day, and also the reptile house, called Creepy Caves. The zoo officials are caring to the wildlife, and pay due attention to the endangered species. There is also an active breeding program meant to sustain the endangered species.

In a recent study of the zoo, it was discovered that the enclosures for the gorillas were too small. The park has been notified of the same and has to expand the enclosure before 2009, else its license might be canceled. The total area of the park is almost 22 acres, along with the new animal enclosures that were launched in 2006. There are stories that the gorilla enclosure might be replaced with an African exhibit and a new education center, before the 2009 time limit.

A sea life center was also started in 2008 and it houses various tanks that show the British and topical aqua culture. There is a glass tropical tunnel where sharks and rays are kept. This is a major tourist attraction in London.
