Beauty experts rarely agree on the highest rated wrinkle cream, in terms of effectiveness. They usually recommend that you buy wrinkle cream that they themselves have created or from the company that employs them. It just makes sense.

Public safety groups recommend that you carefully evaluate the ingredients before you buy even the highest rated wrinkle cream. There is no "real" rating system. If you buy wrinkle cream simply because a group of consumers recommends it, you may end up with a terrible negative reaction.

I have read hundred of consumer reviews. The stories are sad and frightening. People who did not have sensitive skin, who never had reason to shop for safety or learn about the ingredients to avoid, have ended up with permanent detrimental changes in their appearance.

The major cosmetic companies use hundreds of known allergens and irritants. Parabens, added fragrances, thimerosal, BHT, artificial dies and colors are just some of them. They are not required to check individual ingredients for contamination. So, you may be using something that contains benzene, a known carcinogen and that's just one example.

It's really hard to read those labels. Even safe ingredients have chemical names that may be unrecognizable. Tocopherol, for example, is vitamin E. The best way to buy wrinkle cream, without carrying around a chemical dictionary, is to shop only for products that are free of artificial preservatives and fragrances.

Look for ones that contain plant or vegetable, rather than mineral oils or petrolatum. Avon sells a highest rated wrinkle cream, according to consumer reviews. But, the company has always relied on petrolatum to provide moisture, even though it is not actually moisturizing.

Petrolatum and other petroleum based oils are not absorbed by the pores. They actually block them, causing pimples and other types of irritation. They might feel better initially, but in a few hours time, there is no noticeable improvement.

When you go to buy wrinkle cream, look for ingredients like grape seed oil. It's highly compatible with the skin's natural oil; sebum. It dries to a lightweight invisible film that locks in moisture.

The highest rated wrinkle cream in my book is one that combines grape seed oil with other antioxidants and a compound called Functional Keratin. It has been shown to increase the moisture content of the skin by 27%. 24 hours later, the moisture level is still 22% higher than it was before treatment.

Most of us buy wrinkle cream to help restore firmness. Creams containing functional keratin have been shown to increase firmness by 44% in less than 30 days. Now, that's effective.

Most companies make their claims without supportive clinical evidence. To improve firmness, most companies rely on urea, a waste product, the primary component of urine. Many companies do not name the source of the urea that they use. It's only recommended use is to remove dead skin from the feet.

If you're like me, you want the highest rated wrinkle cream according to researchers and dermatologists. Just don't rely on the advertising hype.
