Arriving on the scene in Australia and instantly receiving lots of publicity are Unlimited call plans. The idea is that you pay a set fee every month and get to make as many calls as you like. For those of you who use the phone a lot this can be incredible value and one of the most inexpensive mobile phone plans to be found in Australia.
When you first look at these plans they seem very appealing, but look closer and it is clear they are not so cheap for everyone. Most people don’t really know what services they are paying for in their monthly bill, they just know it is a certain amount and hand their money over. Reading the small print of your phone contract will help you realize what is not included in your phone plan and then it will be easy to see if you really are getting as good a deal as you think.
The plan includes all local and long distance calls, including those made to mobiles and an unrestricted number of SMS messages. The plan they offer also includes 2Gb of data which is significant as other Australian carriers offer 2Gb of data for $99, and this is separate from the unlimited call plan fee. All included calls on this plan are untimed and unlimited.
Excluded are international calls, global roaming, calls to special numbers such as 124YES or 19 numbers, calls to 13, 1300, 1800 & 1900 numbers, directory assistance and excess data usage outside over 2Gb per month. Given that these call types only account for around 4% of total call numbers we don’t expect this to be a big issue for potential business customers.
Phone plans can be complex as there are so many exclusions to be aware of before you decide on the plan to fit you. This one is set out simply and clearly so you know what to expect before signing up.
There are many
unlimited call plans available in Australia but Telaustralia is the only telco to provide this type of plan for businesses too. This is what makes it unique to any other unlimited plans found in Australia.
An unlimited plan is such good value that other higher end capped mobile phone plans are becoming outmoded. With capped plans you generally pay a fixed amount, say $150, and are then allowed a set number of calls for that price. However if you can obtain an unlimited plan for the same price you are getting a much better deal.
These plans come into the market in response to customers saying they wanted use their smart phones or mobile devices when and where they wanted to without having to sell the farm to pay the monthly bill. They truly recognize that the modern workforce relies upon their their mobiles.
Unlimited call plans also means people willl rely less on the PSTN network to keep in touch as mobiles are more and more common. Why pay line rental when you can make as many calls as you like and access the internet in the palm of your hand.
With this growth of this voice network to cover 98% of the Australian and HSDPA data coverage to 95% of the Australian population coverage will not be a matter of concern. By adding Blackberry to this product it really does become a total wireless office solution.
