A report issued by the Ralph Nader Study Group has highlighted the overriding benefit of the under counter water filter. The authors of that report reviewed over 10,000 documents. Those documents, obtained through the Freedom on information act, contained information about U.S. drinking water.
Did that report recommend more extensive use of and did it mention an under counter water filter? No, it did not. It did, however, state that U.S. drinking water contains more than 2100 toxic and carcinogenic chemicals.
Only the installation of under counter water filters in every U.S. home and business could ever hope to reduce the number of chemicals that now enter the body of every U.S citizen. No other solution would yield the same results. Even an effort to have everybody drink bottled water would not be as effective.
Americans use chemicals on their lawns and in the engines of their cars. Many of those chemicals get washed into drains and enter the water system. Farmers use pesticides and fertilizers, products that contain many toxic chemicals. The run-off from farmland also enters the ground water. Ground water eventually enters the large water supply.
Unless those chemicals can be taken-out of the water, they become part of the water cycle. They mix with the water molecules during each stage of their existence. . Those chemicals become part of the water vapor. Those chemicals show up in rain and in snow. The effects of acid rain have been well-documented.
The vast number of chemicals in the environment causes thousands of chemicals to enter our water supply. Americans who refuse to drink tap water are apt to enjoy food prepared with tap water. It is almost impossible to avoid daily exposure to the chemicals that now exist in the typical U.S., water supply system.
The veracity of the above statement shines a limelight on the overriding benefit of the under counter water filter. Because they contain multiple filter units, under counter water filters cam remove a larger number of toxic chemicals than a smaller or more mobile filtering device.
An attempt to use only bottled water does not provide American citizens with assurances that they are free from possible exposure to toxic chemicals. Federal regulations on bottled water apply only to water that has been transported across state lines. Moreover, those same regulations state that bottled water must be "as good as" tap water.
Homeowners and business owners can no longer deny the value of a good water filter. By investing in such a filter, a homeowner or business owner can feel confident that employees in a workplace or residents in a home have access to pure and good tasting water.
Today, a growing number of homeowners and business owners have chosen to install a filter that contains activated carbon. When combined with ion exchange and micron filtration, such a filter can bring the number of impurities in the water to an acceptable level.
When a home or business uses under counter water filters its water through a system with activated carbon, then everyone who enjoys the water delivered by that system has been guaranteed access to the safest water possible.
