A Parisian Christmas

Now the summer is behind us, most of us are beginning to think about the Christmas season. For many, Christmas is a time for panic, last-minute shopping and fights for the last pack of Christmas lights on the shelf. The adjacent department stores (Grands Magasins) of Printemps and Galeries Lafayettes are in constant competition with each other and as such, offer an excellent choice of goods at attractive prices. If you like some fresh air whilst you shop you can have a wander around the massive flea market (Le marché aux puces de Saint-Ouen) which features more than 2000 shops and stalls offering vintage and modern furniture and clothes. The flea market is open Saturday to Monday, from 10am till 7pm.

Take a break from your shopping and refresh yourself in one of Paris' many restaurants, bistros and cafés.
