Tem building is the most important task of a CEO of a company. It is a team that wins a contract and it is a team that delivers the contents of the contract. An ideal team should have talented individuals having independent thinking processes for reaching the same goal given to the team. The individuals should be complimentary to each others in their skills. Each team should have a leader who should be able to extract the required output from each member of the team.
Successful team building is very important. The CEO must have the necessary understanding about the nature of the different members of each team. He must have the necessary skills to balance the positive energies of the members of the team and how to offset the negative tendencies of the members.
Team building can be taught to children in many different and innovative ways. A drama in school gathering can help children to work together in a team. A team sport can make the children understand the importance of playing as a team. Teachers can give small assignments to different groups of children, so that the children can complete the assignment with collective efforts of its members. Teachers should imbibe on the minds of children that team work means going ahead of all the members together, and not of any individuals. Teachers should teach that there are rules for every game as a team, and the team has to perform within those rules.
This type of education will help the children in their professional life in the future. It is often observed that some Executives are excellent in work and give positive results when they work on an individual level. However, the same Executive fails miserably when he is a part of a team. This is probably because he has never learnt to work collectively with others. He has to learn the importance of working in a team.
There can be several types of teams. One could be a Technical team, which can look at the technical sides of any new project. Another could be a Commercial team, which could study the financial side of the project. There could be a Techno-Commercial team, which could do both the tasks together. There could be many other teams such as an Execution Team, Legal Team, and Maintenance Team etc.
A Core Team should be built from the Leaders of different teams. During the meetings of this team, each leader can pass and share the overall information of the project to the members of his/her team, so that each member knows what is happening around, and gets a sense of belonging to the team and the Company.
The success of a Company is the success of the different teams operating in the company. If the teams are of competent people who are mature enough to work together towards a common goal while forgetting individual differences of opinions, the teams must succeed. Therefore, successful team building is very important for the success of the Company.
