ARTICLES SUPERCHARGE TRAFFIC TO YOUR SITE- By Cyndi Parker
Are you paying through the nose for advertising and pay-per-click and still
not being able to drive the massive traffic that you need to make money from
your website? You can make it happen. You can generate free traffic by
writing and submitting your own articles.
Aargh, you say! I cant write! I hated English and essays and all that stuff
in school. Fear not. Heres what you need to know. Articles are not great
literary works. They are simply telling people a little about something you
know something about.
If you have a web presence you undoubtedly have a product or service that
you know something about. Maybe you are a roofing contractor and would like
to get more people to view your website, but dont have much money left over
for advertising since you paid a fortune to put your website up. And, since
nobody knows your website is there, nobody is visiting it, or at least its
not had enough traffic to generate enough business to even pay for the
hosting. So now you say marketing on the internet doesnt work.
Ok, try this. Write down some ideas about different kinds of roofing
materials. Start with shingles. What kinds of shingles are there? Make a
list. What are the advantages or drawbacks of each kind? Make a list. Now,
all you do is make a sentence about each item in each list. You might find
that you have several things you can say about each item in each list. Guess
what? Each of those things you have to say is a sentence. You string
sentences together to make a paragraph, and then start a new paragraph with
each new thought. When you have about 400 to 700 words, you have an article
that you can submit to the internet.
"How does article writing drive traffic to my site?" you ask. Ok, suppose I
am thinking about putting a new roof on my house. I dont want to lose time
from work, so in the evening I go to the internet to find out about what
kind of shingles I ought to buy so I can do it myself. When I search for
shingles or roof, I find several articles by a roofer (you) about various
types of roofing materials and comparisons of roofing materials. I also find
out that I dont have the time or experience to make it worth my while to do
it myself. (Your articles have made that very clear.)
At the bottom of each article, you place your information and a link to your
website in what is known as a resource box. If the reader is local, he will
go to your website and either leave his information (this is known as a
lead) or will call you. If he is not local, you will already have monetized
your site by having other roofers from other areas pay you a referral fee to
recommend them, or to have an ad on your site. Because you have written all
these articles, you are now the expert and they want "The Expert" to
recommend them.
You might put all those articles together into an ebook, and sell it online.
Now you really are the online authority on roofing because you have written
the book on it. Your site becomes more highly ranked on the search engines
and people are coming to your site and paying $19.97 each to download your
ebook, and you havent even left your office.
