Is it probable that there is an association between weight gain and excessive mental activity?
Longing for food can be enhanced by too much mental exertion. Many of you may find this true because a frantic day of mental activity can be as physically tiring as actual physical work. Mental labor, according to research, "destabilizes" insulin and glucose levels thus leading one to eat a lot because of boost in appetite. There are a number of factors that point to a boost in appetite, and several of those are connected to the mind of an individual.
One such mental factor is stress, which is prompted by mental challenges. Stress is attributed to eating in excess. I myself tend to eat a lot more if I'm stressed out before. This response of your body to your state of mind will be instinctive as soon as you let your guard down.
Rats are not so different from people. Glucocorticoid steroid hormone, or cortisol in humans, is emitted by rats when they are chronically stressed, as researchers learned. This then spurs the rats to actively participate in pleasure-seeking acts. This consists of nibbling high-energy foods that shall in the long run help them form abdominal obesity.
Unneeded or excessive eating will result in "belly fat" or abdominal obesity. It has been connected to increased possibility of heart attacks, diabetes, strokes and more illnesses and disease. So it is better to cut-off stress in its tracks than ease it with a whole pizza and huge soda!
Boredom and loneliness are pinpointed by British researchers too. Boredom and loneliness also cause an increase in eating in about half of adults! Comfort foods, like potato chips and ice cream is to blame here. These foods are generally eaten in large amounts passing along large bulks of fat too!
There is no reason to not be conscious of your appetite at the end of a tiring day at work now that you in the know. But if you are legitimately hungry, then eat by all means. Never forget that what your body needs is nourishment, so eat healthy and eat right! One sure way to soothe your weight-worries off your mind is to eat a well balanced diet and day by day exercise.
