Many people join debt management or debt settlement programs not knowing that the service they are paying for they can actually do it themselves and save additional money. All it takes is the courage to pick up the phone and speak to your creditors. If you have the funds to settle with and are under five months behind on your accounts there is no need for a debt settlement or debt management program.

Most debt relief programs claim they start work on your accounts as soon as the first retainer or monthly fee is paid in many cases this is a lie. These programs will actually not d anything for anyone unless they have the funds to settle with. Try this today, pick any debt settlement company out there today and tell them two different stories, first tell them you have no money to settle with and second tell them you have the funds to settle with and listen to both reactions from the person on the other side of the conversation. Pay close attention to all the offers they will present to you if you tell them there is money available.

Catching on so far? Why pay someone else for something you can do? Most consumers are unaware of the laws protecting them from creditors and collectors and they become scare when such terms as garnishment, judgment, lien, etc... are thrown at them, I invite everyone to read up on their rights as consumers and turn the tables on debt collectors.

Debt arbitrators or debt negotiators know the FDCPA inside out, this is how they are able to negotiate structured settlements on their clients behalf. Actually some creditors and collectors would rather speak to the account holder personally and offer them the same if not better settlement offers than they would a third party debt adjuster.

If unsecured debt is holding you down and you want to negotiate settlements on it there are debt settlement coaching programs that will help you do so, they are an alternative to expensive debt management and settlement programs. They will help take your jitters away and turn you into a lean and mean negotiating machine.
