If you’re anything like me, you’re probably not a big fan of the ‘Old School’ network marketing methods. I spent a good few years using these methods, you know the ones:
1. Get a dream (that’s easy)
2. Build a list of your ‘warm’ contacts… friends, family, colleagues etc
3. Grab the phone and go through the script… the one that says “Hey Joe, I just took a look at a very exciting business and I think you’ll like it too…”
4. Get yourself round to Joe’s house with your professional suit on, your briefcase packed full of literature, compensation plans, follow up materials etc
5. Get back to Joe’s house a few days later to follow up
and so on… I’m sure you know the story
Is there something wrong with these methods? Well, in truth, no, there’s nothing wrong with this at all. I, however, have certain issues with this, and they are:
it is just not very easily duplicateable, it’s no secret that in order to be successful using these methods, you are going to have to talk to a lot of people to find your leaders, you know we are looking for leaders right?
Network Marketing requires that we find leaders or a team that we can work with. And, in order to find them you are going to face an awful lot of rejections, disappointments and pain in general, that is absolutely fine if you are the sort of person who can deal with this and is willing to put themselves through some emotional challenges, and if your dream is strong enough to keep you at it. Generally, you will find that there is a ’self improvement’ system which will teach and mentor you, again not a bad thing, but, is it necessary in today’s new age of network marketing?
Using these ‘old school’ methods you will soon find that your friends, family and other warm contacts soon run out, they may just not see things the same way you do, and you have to start looking at other ways of generating leads, again this is not necessarily easy for most people, sure, there’s people out there who just seem to be magnetic, they attract people to themselves and make striking up a conversation look like a walk in the park. In my opinion though, these people are few and far between…
So what’s the answer?
Today, we have the internet, we have software systems and we have ways of developing leads without ever having to lift the phone or even leave the house! This sounds a bit more like it to me, and actually, it sounds like a lot more fun!
What we have is ‘The Funded Proposal’ A system which allows you to build your network marketing business online (and making some money while you do it!)
What I mean by this is that to grow a network marketing or MLM business, you are going to have to develop a list of prospects, we hear it all the time, build your list. The funded proposal is an online method of developing a highly targeted list of people who share the same interests and even aspirations as you. The great thing about using this system is that it does not require that you pick up the phone, purchase a lead or even leave the comfort of your own home.
I managed to find a brilliant eBook which was crafted by ‘The Downline Duplication Specialist’ James Grandstaff, who, as it happens is a very smart software developer and who’s skills include the ability to generate viral traffic (This is an important part of using a funded proposal, you have to know how to get visitors to look at your opportunity)
The eBook includes transcripts from both James and Daegan Smith, they call Daegan “The King of Never Calling a Single Lead”, Daegan is the head of Internet Marketing for one of the worlds largest network marketing companies, this says it all really doesn’t it!
I have been using a funded proposal for sometime now, and I am truly astonished by what a powerful method of building network marketing and MLM businesses this is. The best thing of all is that even those who choose not to join your opportunity immediately will continue to maintain a relationship with you, which, you can, of course continue to develop and nurture.
