Ensure your year end function or staff party is something to be remembered

Every office party / yearend function I have ever attended has either started off as dinner in a restaurant and then ended in a club or dingy bar somewhere, or been held at someone’s house where weird and wonderful “staff” activities take place. Generally everyone gets very drunk, we all eat too much and someone will be caught making out with a work colleague in a dark corner. Of course these occasions are well documented by random photos which are used for inter-office blackmail and cackling at some point.



Wouldn’t it be nice to enjoy a year end function that was filled with just as much silliness but had more rewards added and allowed for us to actually get to know one another better? The idea of a weekend away makes me believe that year end functions can actually be enjoyable and looked forward to, not just loathed and then bearable once the alcohol starts flowing. Having a work teambuilding weekend is great as staff are able to interact in a social relaxed environment, get to know each other better and still have to work as a team to win certain rewards and prizes.



You will find that while embarrassing Kodak moments still present themselves for those images to blackmail each other with, team building weekends away provide for wonderful memories and allow staff to become a team of friends instead of a team of colleagues. What better way to end the year then to walk away from it enriched with new friendships and understandings?
