If you have tried to find information on search engine optimisation you will find that there is indeed plenty to go around. However if you search long enough and wade through the mountains of information on hand you will soon discover that a lot of it is contradicting. So how do you know which is true and which isn’t.
Well the problem with search engine optimisation is that no one knows, but the search engines what actually is true and what is not. A lot of good search engine optimisers will do their own research and come to there own conclusions. If you are lucky they will share their finding on their blog for all to see. The problem with this is that have they taken into consideration all the factors? The thing I say about SEO is unless the information you are reading is from an official source (form Google for example) then if you hear it once dismiss it, if you hear it twice, dismiss it again and if you hear it three times treat it with scepticism.
It is not a good idea just because you find some information that sounds as if it must be true then to then go and make changes to your website. This is dangerous as this could make your website actually fall in the rankings. What works for one website does not mean it works for all. Here below are some good resources to learn about search engine optimisation.
Google Blog
The official Google blog is an excellent way to learn about SEO and to keep up to date on the search engines. As this is the official blog then you can be assured that the information you are reading is true as to how the search engines work.
Matt Cutts
Matt Cutts work for Google as an engineer what his official title is I’m not sure but what I do know is that he is mostly seen as the face of Google and his blog makes excellent reading. He doesn’t just blog about Google but does from time to time offer some excellent advice.
I found these
SEO services that really helped me learn what I need to know to help my
website design give them a try.
Sphinn
This also is a good resource although this is not an official source from any search engine but it is well used within the search engine optimisation industry and you can pick up some good tips and the thoughts on any new development that may arise.
