family holidays can be a very happy time, but it’s common for these holidays to turn bad. Families fight and plans are ruined. But there are easy ways to keep the peace and save your vacation. First of all is the attitude. Go into the trip with a good attitude. Try to amend all conflicts before you leave. Also one of the most stressful times is just packing for you trip. To avoid the packing stress, make sure you give yourselves a couple days in advance to pack, packing on the night before you leave can lead to these high stress levels. Another way to help you avoid the problems of packing, just make a list. Get together and make a list of the things you need to bring, that way you won’t forget anything and won’t be worried on the day you leave.
Another way to have a good vacation is to be laid back on your vacation. Just relax, after all that is what a vacation is for. A big problem that I have had on family vacations is a single person who is really driven to do and see everything, but the rest of the family really just wants to relax. You don’t want to be that person. Don’t yell at family members for being lazy, or not wanting to do something. Just wait for everyone to be ready, and in the mean time take a couple minutes to relax for you.
Also another thought to keep in mind is planning things that are interesting to the whole family, so some people don’t feel bored or don’t want to go do something with the rest of the family. When one person doesn’t want to do something it can ruin it for the whole family. If you’re going with young children you might want to avoid some plans that may be boring to them like art museums or famous churches. When a child is bored they can annoying and potentially ruin your vacation, so once again I’ll put enfaces on planning for the whole family. When going on a holiday you should make two things very important, relaxation and planning. A well organized, but laid back vacation is the key to a happy family and a great trip. Keep it interesting and keep it fun for all the people going.
