Finding Balance
The term “finding balance” is used extensively in books and magazine articles ranging from exercise to self help to business. Finding balance in our lives sounds great and occasionally we even make time to do the things that we believe can help us to achieve a greater sense of it. We commit to the idea of spending more time with family, friends and others that we consider important in our lives and sometimes we even get close to incorporating those actions at least for a short time.
The difficulty in getting the visions of warm family time, candle lit dinners with a spouse or lively conversations with a small group of close friends out on the patio is that we try to achieve these results without changing the source from which they come. Balance in life begins in the quiet of or minds and in the mindset from which we view the world and our place in it.
Balance, like every other thought and action in our lives requires a foundation, a source within us, once this foundation is established, we can begin to build securely upon it and begin to realize the balance we all suggest we so desperately desire in our lives. The Chi for Health (Chi Kung) program of Floating Monk is such a foundation because it begins within by teaching what balance is and how it feels.
Day and night, male and female, soft and hard these are generally universally agreeable examples of balance. In just 15 minutes a morning the this Chi Kung program leads the practitioner through a series of easy to learn movements that begin relaxed, then incorporate squeezing (isometric like hardness) and then return back to smooth, relaxed motions. This process of soft/hard, mind/body, breath and substance establish a foundation and mindset which inspire and guide in creating clear and sustainable balance in the many other aspects of our lives.
