If there is one piece of advice I would give to every business operating
on the Web today, it would be this:

You MUST collect the opt-in information of visitors to your web site!

Why? Because if you're not constantly building your opt-in email
list, you're letting MOST of your sales opportunities slip right through
your fingers!

Studies have shown that it takes an average of FOUR TO SEVEN points
of contact to make a sale — and you won't make it to the second
point of contact if you don't have a way to reach your visitors after
they've left your site.

But simply by collecting their first name, last name, and email address,

you can stay firmly on their radar and expose them to your products
time and time again — all at nearly no cost to you! That's
why your opt-in email list should be the foundation of your online
business.

These days, consumers know that their personal information is gold,
and they won't give it to you unless you give them something they
want in return. If you provide your visitors with a targeted, valuable
opt-in offer, your opt-in email list will grow — and so will
your revenues.

So now that you know WHY you should be collecting your visitors'
information, you need to consider these questions to help you create

a relevant, exciting opt-in offer:

  • WHO your target market is: You designed your business to meet
their needs and cater to their interests. Your opt-in offer should
    do the same.

  • WHAT kind of opt-in offer will get your visitors excited about
giving you their information: Be creative – it doesn't
need to be a newsletter, although that's a great option
if you have the time and content. Try running a contest instead,
or offering a free eBook, or taking a quick survey…

  • HOW to promote your opt-in offer: Remember to emphasize benefits!

What kind of value are you giving your visitors for their information?

  • WHERE to put your opt-in offer on your web site: Everywhere!
There shouldn't be a page up without it!

Once you've got the answers to these questions, you're ready to put together
the best possible opt-in offer for your target market and build your
opt-in email list.
