One of the more unusual phones to stand out at CES this year was the LG watch phone. Although we’ve seen watch phones before they are usually chunky pieces that would be a pain to carry around with you, especially on your wrist. However, this LG model is a much slimmer and stylish version of a watch phone and is a lot more elegant than others on the market.
This LG phone has HSDPA for 3G networking and a GD910 that can be used as a tethered modem for laptops. The only issue with this phone is what surfing the net would be like on a 1.4-inch screen, however, it’s still nice to have the internet capabilities on this small device.
The watch is also set to come with a touch-screen which may make the interface a lot more user friendly. This watch is also set to come with voice recognition so if you were to find that it was difficult to manoeuvre around the touch-screen then the voice recognition would come in very handy. On top of this, the phone’s speaker will allow you to talk directly to your wrist or if you’d prefer a wireless headphone setup then you can take advantage of the Bluetooth.
The LG watch also comes with an MP3 player integrated into it. The player may be quite simple but this works well on the watch and the size of its screen and the album art work pictures show up nicely. Something to bear in mind however is that stereo Bluetooth headphones may look better combined with the watch rather than your average wired headphones that may look a bit more unseemly.
This is one of a few mobile phones coming through at the moment that are only being sold in Europe and there is no set price yet meaning that we’ll have to wait to find out about any possible mobile phone deals that are on offer.
