The Madchester trend was coined for the alternative music scene that developed in Manchester, the Great Britain in late 1980s and mixed indie rock and dance. The founders of the newly emerged musical style are labelled the Happy Mondays and the Stone Roses from Manchester, UK. Their music is quite complicated to describe, however, very easy to remember. Members of the band, reputedly, suffered drug addiction, which brought their musical careers to the end, but Madchester proceeded ruling the music scene.

The trifle changed Madchester trend was established in early 1990s and was mainly represented by the Blur and the Oasis bands, who were experiencing their golden age, promoting the trend among their fan-bases. Before the Madchester era, the music scene was dominated by grunge and electronics. In 1993 the Blur released the triple platinum Parklife CD album, which l;ater on was acclaimed a classical Madchester.

Meanwhile, the Oasis gave out the Definitely Maybe CD album, experiencing ever huge mainstream success. Both bands painstakingly competed, releasing new records and practicing offending each other in interviews to popular magazines, however, they both were admired equally. Their loud rival has become a history. Admittedly, though the Blur became favourites of the UK audience, the US and entire Europe were attracted to the brothers Gallagher, rather then to Damon Albarn (the Blur's frontman).

Presently, Brit Pop is deeply rooted into the music world. Bands, following the popular music trend are rapidly increasing in number. While new groups emerge, old ones don't fade away, as the trend is properly promoted. Some qualitative experts also opine that it was Tom York, who has brought the trend into the living being.
