How positive are you? I would like to pose this question to anyone, who reads this article. It's easy to say, that I am positive, and I do nice things for people sometime. This is not exactly the answer I'm looking for...however, it is a start. I would like to explore the good and bad points of being positive, as well as the challenges it has. There are many people, who struggle with this problem on a daily basis. Whether it be a family member, coworker, friends, or spouse/boyfriend. We have all been faced with negative situation and people.

First of all, how to positive people become negative? Well, I'm a firm believer in thinking that circumstances, has allot to do with it. A person can be at the top of their game, or in a great spot i their career. Then all of a sudden, it all comes crashing down. That may be an extreme example, but never the less, I made my point. A person can go through a divorce, fight with their best friend, husband, or boyfriend. They could even have something happen with other family members, which may cast a dark cloud on them. Whatever happens, then they are in a deep funk, and anyone around them is a threat. This is why they began being negative, and hateful around others. They are usually selfish and full of bad remarks, to say about anything in general. If you happen to spend allot time with this person, then it could rub off on you. My own personal defense for dealing with negative people, is to smile at them. If it gets too bad, then I walk away. You do not have to feel obligated to take in their negative emotions, at that particular moment.

If you are a person, who strives to be positive, then it can be a challenge in itself. Let's talk about the pros of being a positive person, or even practicing to be positive. If you are someone who likes to keep things cheerful, then this is probably an effort for you. We all know that a person cannot be happy 100% of the time, because we all have bad days. The good thing abut being a positive person, is that even bad days are sometimes ok. Those types of people generally laugh at themselves, or their mistakes. This can sometimes be a good thing, as it relieves heightened stress, in certain situations. Being positive relieves stress, and we all know that stress can cause problems with your body.

When people are negative, sometimes they are lacking something in their lives. This could be love, affection, or maybe even personal time to themselves. Whatever the cause of their negativeness may be, it's coming out in the form of comments, or their actions toward others. In my opinion, it starts out from deep within, and sort of grows like a cancer. Eventually, it has to come out. Now, I do not claim to be a psychologist, but I do spend allot of time studying people's behavior, as well as listening to them. This is something, which started when I was in high school. I read somewhere once, that "if you want something given to you...then you must give it away to people around you". In other words, if you want love and acceptance, then give it to another person. I know that this sounds hard, but it has worked for me, and other people whom I've spoken to.

I've touched a little on why people are positive, negative, and what it does to you. Let's talk about the cons or bad experiences, of being positive. Speaking from personal experience, I've been around positive, motivational people. This can be difficult, if you are used to seeing things in a negative aspect. If your life has been full of hatred, lies, and negative environments..., then this can be a bit hard to except. First of all, you think that the positive person wants something from you. Then as you began to try and trust them, you think that they have an ulterior motive, or looking for a subject to practice on. A positive person, must work harder to convince you that you can be loved, and you are important. They also need to establish trust from the negative person. Many people who truly practice being positive on a daily basis, are very spiritual inside. They have a deep connection with themselves, and a higher power. Given the opportunity, they will be there for you, and help break down those barriers of self doubt, and personal issues. A negative person, will then began to appreciate the positive person, and therefore start to feel more positive.

These are my personal opinions on staying positive, and the pros and cons of being that way. I hope that someone was able to get something out of my article. We all need to live, and appreciate ourselves and others. This continues to be a daily challenge for everyone, but thank goodness that there are positive people, in this world!
