Caring about your work and taking pride in what you do are qualities that most of us strive to achieve. We work hard, do our best, and readily accept new challenges that we are faced with. My estimates say that this is how about 80% of the population works. Eighty percent of the other people out there - 80% of the marketers, 80% of the business owners, 80% of the doctors, healers, writers, and sales professionals all try to do their best and care about what they do.

What makes some people stand head and shoulders above that 80% of the population? What is it that makes the Michael Dell's and the Zig Ziglar's of the world who they are?

Passion.

Passion is what makes some businesses take off while other, similar businesses creep slowly along.

Passion is what makes some people quickly climb the corporate ladder, while others stay stagnant and grow unhappy.

Passion is what differentiates some of us from the pack.

Does passion differentiate YOU?

Think about what things you do that you are passionate about. Think about how energized you are and how you LOVE to talk about your passion. Do you have that same passion for your work?

Clients and others notice that gleam in your eye and the energy in your voice when you start talking about your passion. Everyone – including clients pick up on your passion right away.

The thing about passion is no matter how hard you try, you just can't fake it.

Here are five tips to make sure your passion shines through in what you do...

1. Talk. Speak. Get out there. Anyone with even an inkling of intuition will pick up on the energy that surrounds you when you discuss your passion. If your passion is the business you just started, or the new product you developed, talk about it. Have you ever noticed that when someone is truly passionate they don't shut up? I want you to talk about it because people pick up on the energy in your voice, in your body language. I recognize that not everyone is comfortable speaking in public like I am, and that's ok. If you can find a way to talk to a writer or a good marketer about your passion they can capture the essence of it and portray it in another medium.

2. Feel your passion. Before you meet with a client or write an article or do any marketing, take some time to get centered and feeeeeel how much you love your passion and feeeeeel how good it is when you are achieving your passion. Feeeeeel it before you do anything. You know the feeling I'm talking about.

3. Be energetic. Part of what attracts people to you when you are following your passion is the energy you give off. The energy is natural and can't be faked. The energy is also magnetic. People sense it, are attracted to it, and want some of it. Let your energy and enthusiasm show.

4. Surround yourself with other passionate people. You know who they are. You will all feed off each other. Learn from each other. Mastermind. Why spend your time with anyone else? If you think back to your science classes, what happens when energy gets around more energy? It gets stronger.

5. Don't write any marketing materials, articles, or anything creative without feeling the high or the energy of your passion, because it won't shine through. If you are having an off day, work on some boring or routine work that needs to be done. Of course not all of us can just say "I don't feel like working today" and go play. As a passionate person, I challenge you to develop routines that get you into that "high energy" place where you CAN then move onto more productive, high energy work.
