Photographs are a wonderful way to capture events and times during your life, they are also a fantastic reminder of places that you have visited and things that you have seen. People all over the world use photographs as a way of sharing experiences and adventures with their friends and family. Today as people's lives and jobs take them all over the world many families live in different continents and they communicate via telephone, e-mail and social networking sites. Sharing photos via e-mail and on social networking sites is something that is usually popular right now, but did you know that you could use image hosting to share your photos?
Image hosting is a way that people can upload their personal photographs and even videos onto a specific website, which will then be stored on the websites server for people to view. Image hosting the first major introduced to the world back in the 1990s when photographers would upload images that they wanted to sell commercially. Companies could then view these images and pay a fee, which would be split between the website and the photographer to use these images. Today the system has moved on and now anyone can share photos by an image hosting website.

Image hosting websites tend to be free to use, although there are some fee paying sites out there. Some image hosting websites will also offer users the chance to pay for extra features such as increased storage for photos and the option of printing out photographs and having been sent to a specified address. Such sites will also usually allow their members to create password protected slideshows and photo albums, which can be useful if you want to keep your photos private. Anyone who wants to use image hosting is under no obligation to pay for any of the services, doing so is entirely down to the individual.
The majority of image hosting websites today are doing all they can to make the uploading process even easier, so that more people can use their services every day. Many will even utilise the Flickr tool which allows the user to upload their photographs via a camera phone which has an e-mail capability. This means that sharing photographs using image hosting is getting easier and easier - so much so that now anyone with a basic knowledge of computing can use such a service.

In addition to being able to share photographs, image hosting can also be used to share videos, in much the same way that other video sharing sites can. It does have the added advantage however of being able to have videos and images side-by-side from the same user and within the same album. You can also add notes to the bottom of photos that you have uploaded, so that anyone who views them can read information about them. Doing this adds an extra dimensional to your photos and is great fun for anyone who is looking at them via an image hosting website.
