Have you heard of a 17 year old consulting Packard Bell NEC for Internet and E-Commerce development? Well, Ryan S. Thompson was the prodigy appointed as the Director of Internet Development and Online Commerce by Packard Bell NEC Computers Systems (Canada). The prodigy of a consultant that he already was, he steered Packard Bell NEC into unknown territories hitherto unknown to them by giving their online infrastructure a new direction and an online presence that saw users order customized computer systems online (unheard of, until Ryan happened). This came right after his consulting stint with Coca-Cola's internet presence that brought results in the form of online youth loyalty at par with their arch rivals Pepsi-Cola.
Armed with these experiences and a lot of innovative resourcefulness, Ryan moved on to conquer new frontiers with Magicfloppy.com. This was another one-of-its-kind venture which gave more than a million users an opportunity to store their files online for backup or geographically independent access. Ryan went to sell this venture fetching him a handsome seven figure fortune in 1999.
Ryan moved to new heights by partnering with Enron and Silicon Graphics while being at the helm of affairs for MediaQube, an online media streaming company operating out of California. Quitting, he started his own venture, Rystco, a technology based enterprise that pioneered mobile advertising with real time alerts. With a host of technologies under development, Ryan nurtured Transient Media which was taken over by Interquest Inc. in early 2005.
Along the way, Ryan had grown and acquired peerless business knowledge with unsurpassed negotiation skills, especially on merger and acquisition tables. His skills underwent a vertical integration process when he moved from startup to startup and had acquired a reputation in raising seed capital (more than $25 million).
Today, after being a darling of the press in
- 1999 for magicfloppy.com (August 19th Canadian Financial Post) and a nomination for YTV Achievement Award for young entrepreneurs.
- 2001 New York Marketing Magazine Award for outstanding online innovation in digital web design.
- 2005 Nomination for Canadian Top 40 Under 40 Award
Ryan has become a process-oriented leader with an amazing ability to regulate and streamline operations to acquire two start-up ventures. Experience has bred his wonderful familiarity in regulatory and compliance matters involved for Ryan, and possessing exceptional negotiating and deal-making skills have armed him to make rapid assessment of challenges to aid him in development of required action plans.
