Often designers stake on the contrast of richly-colored sanitary ware items (blue, red, dark blue) and white, applying bright colors to decorate the walls. If you have selected blue as the main color, find an option, where it is split into a tonal range or combined with warm shades. Avoid misusing violet color set in a small closed room, with a bathroom being a great example, as it creates a depressing mood, and adds heaviness to the interior. Green is a good option, as it smoothes down tiredness, refreshes the mind and sets it at rest. But it should be used in combination with white and beige shades; otherwise a room may look dull and toneless. It is better to make a ceiling light, white or milky, for example, as these colors can create a sense of space and lightness.

How many colors are enough in the bathroom interior? If there are two close shades prevailing in the interior, then a few tiny elements of another color range will not stand out from the general coloring. As a rule, light restrained colors go best for large surfaces, with brighter and more saturated hues applied in fragments (such as, a picture, mosaic, framing, etc.), and overall tranquility of the interior is diluted by colored small-sized details.

When using several shades, it is recommended to select them in such a way that they contrast each other in tone. It means that they should oppose each other in the color wheel, and, when mixed, create shades of grey. These colors are known as complementing each other. Pairs of dark red and dark green serve as good examples, as well as pairs of light yellow and blue, etc. Combinations by this principle are particularly exquisite. Placed side by side, complementary colors are mutually reinforced, making a single composition, in which opposite principles are merged. However, if shades are bright, it is better to complement them by thin passages, as superfluous contrast, besides giving a rough outline to the composition, may also eliminate its integrity.

Nowadays many manufacturers of home decoration materials produce their products in collection sets, represented by pre-selected color and texture combinations, as well as supplementary elements, such as: framings, edgings, panels, etc.

Functional elements of the bathroom are no less important elements of any design composition than decorating details of the walls, ceiling and floor. For example, mixers and accessories represent a sort of benchmarks, by highlighting key points and making an entire picture complete. Their color and texture, therefore, are of equal importance. In this regard, chrome, compatible with any color scheme, becomes a perfect solution.

However, it is crucial that coating is resistant to mechanical damage and aggressive effect of water and detergents, since if it grows dim, bright and shining features, used to emphasize the neat elegance of the composition, will turn into blankly "white spots". Product quality is thus of vital importance here. The choice of main elements of the interior in the bathroom, such as a bath, shower cabin, sink, etc., should be equally well-thought, as it won’t be as easy to replace them as furniture in the room. Here, to preserve the integrity of the composition, general rules, as set forth above, should be considered.

The final choice of a color solution for the bathroom requires a balanced and thoughtful approach. Guided by classic design principles and experts' recommendations, you should keep in mind your own preferences, as foremost you make the effort for yourself. Therefore, no need to be in a rush; browse through some magazines and catalogues, make a shopping tour or an exhibition trip, try to visualize what type of environment you need to feel comfortable in. And then make your best-fit choice.
