Attention! Four wrong cognitions or behaviours may damage or speed up the aging of your loved watches.
Wrong Cognition 1: To wear watch in a sauna
This is an absolutely wrong behaviour. No matter how strictly water-resistant the watch is, you could not wear it in a sauna. Though everything seems ok in appearance, the movement may have suffered damages. As external parts of a watch consist of materials of different expansion coefficients, pressure difference may occur inside the watch when the environment temperature is above 50 Celsius. Under air pressure, the air in the watch will run out. And when the temperature difference restores to the original state, the air outside will go back into the watch. As we all know, the temperature in sauna bathroom is higher than standard, some air of higher temperature and humidity may come in after the original air run out of the watch. Sometimes the said air may not turn into vapour immediately. Instead, it will condense into water beads or mist which will bring damage to the movement. In addition, the heat of steam will speed up the aging of water-resistant rubber ring, making it incapable of protecting the movement.
Wrong Cognition 2: To verify whether the glass is sapphire crystal or not through the condensation of water drop.
This is an unscientific method. Some mineral crystal can also make water drop condensed while some sapphire crystal may make water drop scattered. Normally, the manufacturer will provide the infoRmation of the used glass. It is unnecessary and unscientific to test though water drop.
Wrong Cognition : Quartz watch will lose water resistance and will not work as accurately as before after changing battery.
This opinion is wrong. In professional maintenance shop where relevant equipments are complete, the technician will reset the water-resistance and test whether the time travel error is within normal value. So it is a must to change watch battery in professional maintenance shop.
Wrong Cognition 4: To prove anti-scratch performance of watch through scratching and rubbing.
This destructive behavior is not recommended. In addition, the high-tech ceramic, though has high anti-wear ability, is fragile and susceptible to falling and hit.
