Das Films has announced a new project to it's slate to be produced in 2009. The company headed by Sriram Das, is currently in pre-production for "Reflections", based on Elena Serova's book "Reflections of the Past". "Reflections" is scheduled to begin shooting this summer. Das Films recently produced "Veronica Decides to Die", another book adaptation by Paulo Coelho and starring Sarah Michelle Gellar.
"Reflections" is a coming-of-age story of a woman, Leiny, who is faced with a life-changing dilemma. Leiny is a 26-year-old woman living with her 40-year-old fiancée and her 4-year old son in a near-perfect world which she has created for them over the past 3.5 years. But there is no place for passion in this world, only mutual respect and stability. When Luis, her former lover and the real father of her son, reappears in her life, Leiny has to decide whether to stay with her reliable fiancée or leave him for the man she thinks she still loves. Is she willing to risk ruining not only her life but also her son’s by starting again with the man who once left them? In order to make the right decision, Leiny reflects on her past relationships.
Lana Parshina ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2474627/ ) is attached to direct. This is going to be her second film and her first fiction feature. Ms. Parshina said, " When I had another screening of my doc in Los Angeles at Women in Film and TV Showcase in December 2008, Renata contacted me about "Reflections". I was done with the festival circuit by then, signed a distribution deal for my doc and started looking for my next project. It was right timing. She sent me the script, I read it and I saw the potential to turn it into a great story. The rest is history." Co-producer Renata Lorenc of Lileth Productions, who originally developed the material, said, " I was looking for the right director for the past 3 years and had to pass on several exciting opportunities because it was important to find the one who could relate to the material and feel it. I knew Lana was perfect for this project as soon as I came across her work and talked to her. She is a visionary filmmaker with sensitivity and detail, who managed to bring an exceptional team to execute this compelling story” Some members of the dream team includes Emmy award winning production designer Dave Weller ( www.wellerdesign.com ) , Cinematographer Pete Villani ( www.petevillani.com ) and music composer Deddy Tzur (www.deddytzur.com ). The lead actress is yet to be determined, but the cast announcements are on the way.
