It's absolutely insane that no MLB team appears willing to give Barry Bonds a shot in 2009. His agent has contacted every single team in the league so Bonds is not being picky. He wants to play again. He wants to prove he is still a great hitter even at age 44. He deserves that chance.

I think Bonds is the best hitter of all time. He holds a huge amount of records including most home runs in a season and in a career. It's insane that he wouldn't at least be given a chance to prove he can still hit.

Yes he's 44. In 2007, at age 42, Bonds was among the best hitters in baseball. In fact he lead the entire major leagues in OBP.

There's no way that Bonds is being denied a chance to play simply because of his age. I have little doubt he could still be an effective hitter this season and that he could improve any team in the big leagues if given a chance.

It's clear to me that Bonds is being "black balled" by the league as a whole as they are trying to make him into some kind of "scape goat" for all of the problems of the steroids era. This is ludicrous. While I will not deny that Bonds did use performance enhancing drugs (I think that's quite obvious) I do think it's insane that he is being singled out as if he were the only one when it's clear he was one of hundreds. It's obvious that most (yes, most) major league players have used performance enhancing drugs at least once.

Why is it that Bonds is singled out like he were the only player to ever do PEDs when he was just one of hundreds? That doesn't make any sense. Is Alex Rodriguez going to be allowed to play this year? Yes. How is he any less "guilty" than Bonds? It is a fact that A-Rod tested positive for steroids, but Bonds has not.

It makes no logical sense that Alex Rodriguez or any of the other major league players who have tested positive for steroids (and there are hundred!) should be allowed to play while the greatest hitter of his generation is not allowed to play.

I simply cannot take Major League Baseball seriously until they let Barry Bonds back into the league. Players should only be judged on their playing abilities. That's it. By sidelining a truly great player because of political reasons, the sport ceases to be a sport and becomes something much less.

I will instantly become a fan of any team that signs Barry Bonds. I will buy their shirts. I will watch their games. I will buy an MLB league pass. I will spend hundreds of dollars to support that team because they will have shown true integrity.

The fans deserve to get to see Barry Bonds hit again in 2009. He's a true legend. Regardless of what you think of his personality, there is no argument by anyone who knows anything about baseball that he is the best hitter of his generation. Such a player should not be sidelined prematurely for political reasons.
