Remember the hypes we have been bombarded about super amount of money we are going to earn from online marketing? Well, it is true. But that is only part of it. The other part and I believe is more important part, is that you have to spend some amount of time and effort to make your business grow. In fact, the latter part is where most people gets uncomfortable in starting and if they did, many did not persevere enough to see it through.
The most important thing is be honest in every thing you do. Integrity sells in the long run. Be down to earth in what your expectations, your expectations of your business and your expectations of others.
Be real! Your personality and the personality of your business should show through any marketing copy you use. If it doesn't, you are not communicating effectively. People will respond more to you if they feel that there are real people behind the website.
Second, online newsletters are highly effective marketing vehicles. If you don't already have one, start one. It gives you the chance to share your expertise with your audience and offer a value-added service. It's an excuse to contact them on a regular basis and invite them to visit the resources on your website. It's more effective than blogging because you go to them instead of making them find you on the Web. Finally, it's an easy way for prospects and customers to spread the word about your company.
Thirdly, always remember the 'WIIFM' rule. The 'What Is It For Me' formula. As with any marketing endeavor, nobody cares about you or your company. Remember that they only care about what you can do for them. Keep your customers and prospects in the forefront of your marketing materials. Tell them how you can solve their problems or help them avoid pain, save time, or save money. Also, use public relations wisely to promote the fact that you put your customers first and they will respond by shopping from you.
