Sound Healing is the use of sound to balance and align the physical body in energy centers called "chakras." It is a vibrational therapy and can be understand as being energy medicine. A common medium for sound healing is Crystal Singing Bowls.

The use of sound and music for healing is ancient and can be found in many spiritual and sacred traditions. Sound Healing, based on ancient techniques, has recently become a popular again among alternative healing enthusiasts. One of the reasons it is so popular is that you can find sound anywhere. If you know how to use it, any sound can provide healing. Practitioners may likewise use anything that falls within the scope of sound. Although mediums range from classical music to drumming and chanting to electronically synthesized sounds to acoustic instruments, Crystal Tones provides quality crystal singing bowls used by Practitioners Dr. Andrew Weil and Dr. Mitchell Gaynor. The use of sound as a means of healing dates back to prehistoric times. Shaman chanted and drummed to heal people. In the schools of Egypt, India, Greece, Egypt and other countries of knowledge, the use of sound and music for healing was a widely used and highly developed science. Scientists had found sound, or sonic vibration, to be among the fundamental forces in the universe.

More recently, Dr. Hans Jenny of Switzerland demonstrated that various substances such as plastics, liquids and sand would take on different shapes depending upon the frequencies they were subjected to. These Cymatic experiments showed that sound has the ability to manipulate molecular structure. Since the body is composed mostly of liquids, it becomes easy to see how sound can manipulate the human body.

Pioneers of instrumentation Sound Healing, include Peter Guy Manners, MD from England, Alfred A. Tomatis, MD from France, and Robert Monroe. Manners' Cymatic Instrument projects documented specific frequencies and their effect on the human body. Tomatis' Electronic Ear uses sound to treat emotional problems and learning disabilities. Monroe discovered that sound waves could be used to synchronize the two halves of the brain to create an accelerated consciousness.

The vibrational healing tools known as the Crystal Singing Bowls are a by-product of the computer industry. Perfect quartz crucibles are a prime growing environment for computer microchips. Previous to the beginning of the current interest in sound healing, rejected bowls were broken and re-used to form new bowls. Eventually, as sound therapists became aware of the vibrational qualities of these quartz bowls, they began to buy the rejected bowls as tools for sound healing.
