In the manufacturing sector, products or materials need to be weighted accurately. For accurate measurement, large floor scales are ideal. Floor scales have a capacity ranging from 2500 lb to 30,000 lb. Platform sizes generally range from 3’ x 3’ up to 8’ x 10’ and sometimes even larger. Load can be placed on the platform with a forklift. But the scale can also be provided with a ramp, so that a pallet jack can be rolled up onto the scale platform. Floor scales can be made up of a variety of materials. The most standard one being welded steel.

The scale can be painted with enamel or powder coat paint. If scale is painted with zinc rich epoxy coating, the scale will be protected from corrosion. When the scale is subjected to corrosive chemicals, stainless steel construction would be advised. Along with stainless steel load cells, this will provide longer productive life. In certain applications, it is useful to be able to easily move the scale. If it is manufactured from aluminum, it will be much lighter in weight. Aluminum can be used in wet areas. Aluminum or stainless steel does not require coatings.


For Liquids, special chemicals, gases or cryogenic materials, generally large cylinders are required to carry the materials. Most manufacturing facilities can house quantities of these types of containers. Others may only have one or two, but hey may be critical to their operations. If the materials are worn out, most of the operations may face lot of problems. Hence it is very important to know the amount of remaining material. Different types of instruments may be used for this purpose. In some cases liquid level tube can be used or sometimes a float device may indicate the height of the contents within the container. But the best method is to weigh the container and the contents. Large floor scales can be used for this purpose. These industrial scales are produced in a wide variety of different sizes. Digital scales provide the ability to transfer weight values into a computer system where they may be recorded for data analysis purposes.


A pallet is an ideal device for moving large quantities of industrial equipment. Standard size pallets are usually about 48” x 40”. These are made up of wood. If you see nowadays many pallets are being manufactured from plastic to provide excellent characteristics for re-use. They are designed so that they may be easily moved by using a common forklift. It is important to know the weight of the material on the pallet. A floor scale is ideal for this purpose. The most standard size for this type of device is 48” x 48”, but they are also available in smaller sizes and much larger sizes.
