Historically the Bride wore white to signify she was a virgin as white was the color of purity. Needless to say white is still the traditional color of brides and weddings whether or not she is a virgin. Isn't it interesting how we hold onto traditions that remain meaningful even if society moved on a long time ago?

So should bridal lingerie be white? Yes and no are the answers but the basis of the answer if the bridal lingerie should be whatever color the bride wants it to be. Fairy tale weddings may still be held in a church or grand hall and if a bride wants white, then white it is. More and more weddings are held before a Justice of the Peace and the bridal lingerie may be hot pink, black or a flirty floral pattern. Sheer lingerie from La Perla or another designer lingerie line would be sensual and flattering, if the Justice only knew.

Is there a difference between bridal lingerie and honeymoon lingerie? Of course bridal lingerie can be the lingerie she wears under her gown but what if she isn't wearing a gown? Honeymoon lingerie would likely be the lingerie she wears on her honeymoon but what if she doesn't take a honeymoon? The answer is it doesn't matter unless she thinks it matters and she is the bride.

Weddings, honeymoons and lingerie aren't the rigid, specific things they used to be as society has decided that such things are much less about traditions and rigid compliance with them as much as they are about a woman and how she wants to be married and her individual personality. What a woman wore under her dress at the ceremony was never anyone's business anyway. If she was wearing a corset or a shaper was no ones business, nor did anyone really care. As long as she looked and felt flawless the crowd at the ceremony was unconcerned. The same applies today although it is important for her to feel special and her bra, panties or foundations were not the point and never will be. All we get to see is her gown and the glow on her face.

What was and is important is what she wears on her wedding night and thereafter. Technically not bridal lingerie the sexy lingerie she wears on her first night as Mrs. Right is an image they both will remember. That is why it is important to appear in a manner befitting the occasion. I am not a fan of white unless you are Latina or Black or some other skin shade that allows you to get away with white. I just don't think white is a particularly becoming color against a woman's skin. Often it just washes her out. Black is my favorite lingerie color as it is a "sexy" color, is hot against any woman's skin type and it is slimming as well. But I am not the woman getting married. Any color that she likes is the right color. Any style is the right style as long as it makes her look more beautiful than she already is. I am partial to a sexy bra and panties that match in a dark color like burgundy or teal with plenty of lace and some sheer material to show off her body as only a newlywed can. I am not particularly fond of lingerie that requires an owner's manual to get in and out of. Trust me there are plenty of those. Simplicity has its benefits as you will need to wear a bra and panties again and why not get your marriage off to a good start. Focus on finding a sexy bra and panty set as well as a flirty bra and panty set that you can wear to bed. He will love waking up to a bride in her skimpy, snug fitting bra and panties. Men are simple that way, so take advantage of their love of bras and panties, you both won't regret it.
