No one could have accurately predicted the tremendous impact of the wireless age on the communication and connectivity of the average individual a decade ago. Today however, Deloitte and some of technologies giants converged in Las Vegas to peer into their wireless crystal ball. The predictions are amazing.

Phil Asmundson, national managing partner for Deloitte's TMT (Technology, Media & Telecommunications) Industry predicts that "Over the next several years, wireless will become massive in its pervasiveness. Our panel predicts the wireless proliferation will impact virtually every aspect of our lives and will evolve well beyond mobile phones and PDAs".

According to this panel, comprised of Deloitte, Nokia, Sprint Nextel, and Texas Instruments, the need for convergence is the primary driver behind the growth in wireless. The need for integration in the communication mediums of exchange will continue to erase barriers between the varying devices. Wireline and wireless alike need increased options for exchange of information. The increased need for digital exchange formats, along with the demand for content accessibility will continue to move us forward in wireless innovation.

The benefit from increased mobility has already transformed many aspects of day-to-day life for the average consumer. The changes predicted by the panel in the upcoming four year forecast are just as phenomenal as those already experienced. The wireless revolution will continue to change how we work, play, interact, learn, and live.

Also released during this event, was the Deloitte Report: "Eye to the Future" that highlighted predictions for the industry over the next four years. A few of the predictions are listed below.

Travel: Robotization of the Car, Media on the Move, Aerospace Technology takes on Automotive Roles, and Passengers get a Living Room on Wheels.

Work: Work Life Balance Blurs Yet Further, Administration Gets Automated, and Search becomes Key to Productivity.

Communications: Half the Earth's Population is Connected, Preferred Set of Communication Tools Emerges, Machine to Machine Communications, and Distance is Dead, Long Live Convenience

Education: Technology Supports, not Replaces the Teacher, Limitations in Educational Technology become Apparent, Digital Divide Deepens

Entertainment: Broadband turns Surfing into Prime Time Entertainment, Media Collections go Online, Video Games Burn Billions of Calories and Develop the Mind, Realizing the Potential of Audio-on-Demand.
