If you are a beginner at sewing, this should not hinder your dreams! Get a few simple patterns from a fabric store and get started! You'll be amazed at how easy it is to sew and develop new looks from already existing patterns. Once you have the confidence you need to sew, you can take the ideas you have and imagine how they would fit together to form your new clothes.
After you have spent some time sewing clothes together from patterns you have created, you may want to further learn about fashion at a fashion design school. This will be the most important part of your fashion design career, as you will learn from others who have made this career their own. You will want to pick a school that has many successful students who have gone on to create their own clothing lines, as this will lend towards the prestige of your diploma from that school.
The last important step in starting your fashion design career is always be on the lookout for new inspiration and to never stop sewing. You will find that
many great ideas come from outfits that you will see people wearing when you go into public, and the other great ideas come to you while you are at your sewing machine working on another project. You will want to keep a log of your ideas, both in words and pictures, so that when you finish your current project, you will be able to easily find that same inspiration again.
