There are lots of diet programs out there that will help you lose weight. I'm not speaking about fad diets, but real diet programs that are designed to help you lose a certain amount of pounds each week. Most of these dieting plans give you specific guidelines that show you what to do.

Tip #1: Support Groups - Research proves that if you share your weight loss experiences with others who are like you, you're more likely to attain your weight loss goals. Friends and family members who are also dieting can make good diet pals.

However, if you can't find a diet pal locally, you can join an email support group. There are several good ones online. It's always positive to have someone to speak to, especially when you get stuck in a rut.

Tip #2: Cheat Days - Some diets are pretty austere in telling you what you can or can't eat. Many individuals thrive under very strict diets, but others find them overly difficult to follow for the long haul.

A diet that has cheat days may be perfect for someone who wants to enjoy some of their favorite foods, while still being on a diet. You can eat whatever you want during the cheat day periods.

Once you've enjoyed your favorites, you can then go right back on the safe eating plan.

Tip #3: Drink Water - As humans who carry a lot of water in our bodies, we can quickly get dehydrated. Drinking water regularly while on a diet can help you lose weight faster. You don't have to drink gobs of water, just carry your own bottled water and sip from it periodically. A glass of water before a meal will help to control your appetite.


Tip #4: Pick an Exercise You Enjoy - There are many types of exercise. You may hate an exercise activity that someone else really enjoys doing. Walking is one of the easiest exercises to do and is a great low-impact workout. Other exercise activities can be fun too like: biking, skiing, swimming, hiking, playing tennis, yoga, jogging, weight lifting, pilates and dancing.

You should never feel like you have to do a certain type of exercise to lose weight. If you just hate exercising, maybe you need to find a fun activity you enjoy doing. Try out a few different activities and see if you find one you like. Exercise is an important part of any weight loss plan, so keep looking until you find the perfect activity for you.

Tip #5: Cut Down on Stress - This is hard for many people because stress is built into everyday life. Many people deal with their stress by pigging out. How often have you gobbled up a chocolate bar, bag of chips, bowl of ice cream, etc. when you feel a lot of stress about something?

Numerous times, I bet.

This is a another popular reason people fail to lose weight. Try to think of ways to reduce stress. If you feel the need to eat some junk food while under stress, carry around an emergency food kit that has lots of healthy goodies you can eat.
