As economies of the World continue to struggle and governments scurry to apply fixes from their bag of tricks it is becoming apparent to many either inside or outside political spheres that government solutions are going to solve the problems but instead continue to add to the problems. “Entrepreneurs are the answer. Seventy percent of U.S. registered voters think the health of the economy depends on the success of entrepreneurs. “Luntz, Maslansky Strategic Research Survey (sample size: 816), September 2008An interesting additional fact might surprise you. “Angel investors participating in organized groups achieve an average 27 percent internal rate of return.” Returns to Angel Investors in Groups, November 2007 The answers to the question surrounding “Why is this “are varied depending who you ask, but there are some commonalities. Let me offer a couple. First the smaller business usually has as it leader the founder. They are totally invested emotionally and financially to the vision and mission of the company. Often their name and personal integrity is on the line with the success or failure of the business. Personal pride is a key driver for entrepreneurs. They are not manipulating components of the company to satisfy third party interest groups like stock holders and unions. They usually do not have multi-million dollar employment contracts that allow them to receive huge annual bonuses. They cannot fail and receive millions in severance packages. The only way out for them is success and transfer of the business to others by sale of the entity. The majority of entrepreneurs that I know and have consulted with are totally committed from day one of the company’s conception until they die or sell outright to a non family member.
People around the world are beginning to understand that they have a role to play as an individual in the changing economies, and they are willing to consider starting a business but are understandably fearful because they do not have the skill sets or experience to successfully deal with all the issues. We have made it possible for them to “borrow the experience”.
Steve Mellinger, founder of PBI, a business consultant and 45 year experienced entrepreneur, says ” A large percentage of the world population has lost savings and assets and those people are beginning to realize they do not have time to rebuild financial security once again in the manner that previously worked. Recent research of the Kauffman Foundation indicates “The oldest age group—ages 55 to 64—experienced a big increase in business-creation rates from 2007 to 2008 and, as a result, has the highest level of business creation (36 percent).” This growing group gets it and is taking action. We salute them and hope to in some way support them. Join us in helping those people with ideas and the courage to rebuild the global economy “one entrepreneur at a time!”
